EMBRACEABLE
A Retrospective of Enricing works by Bettina Hubby
Jumping with Birds and Butterflies, 2018
Jumping with Cats, 2018
These two works are part of a series depicting Hubby jumping with various animals, presented in a framed and editioned Lenticular print. The stereoscopic effect shows the movement of the animals around Hubby.
Hubby on her series:
How do I want to feel when I look at myself? How do I want others to feel when they see me? Joy would be a good goal. What makes me joyous? What makes others joyous? Looking at the beauty and joy of animals is one possibility. I did a photo shoot of myself jumping in an idyllic setting, and then digitally collaged cats, dogs, kangaroos, birds, and butterflies in as my jumping companions. As I look at these images, my subconscious mind associates me in the same way as I see the animals. Joy may result. It's not-so subliminal advertising.
