From the Kopeikin Gallery announcement:

Kopeikin Gallery is proud to present The Vision Board, a group exhibition of mixed media artworks curated by Elizabeth Valdez. In this very unique mixed media group exhibition, Valdez challenged the wide array of multi-disciplinary and critically acclaimed artists, to create personal “Vision Boards.”

Says curator Valdez: “The impetus for this show comes out of a desire to understand what artists are envisioning in regard to the future, at this very unique moment in history. I consider visualization to be a powerful tool, and perhaps, a first step in heading towards change” continues Valdez. Some questions this subject brings up are, what, at this moment, are we interested in changing? Are we still hopeful, or are our visions of the future “apocalyptic” in some ways? The beauty of this concept is that it can be so multifaceted, therefore appealing to many artists with diverse backgrounds and styles.

Artists participating were: Rebecca Bird, Nancy Buchanan, Alejandro Cartagena, Jamison Carter, Carolyn Castaño, JooYoung Choi, Kevin Cooley, Joseph Cultice, Jen DeNike, Fabian Debora, Michael Dee, Margaret Griffith, Chris Finley, Carla Jay Harris, Pearl C Hsiung, Bettina Hubby, Salomon Huerta, Elizabeth Huey, Nina Katchadourian, Kiel Johnson, Kysa Johnson, Laura Krifka, Mark Licari, Jordie Oetken, Amy Park, William Powhida, Monique Prieto, Osceola Refetoff, Fawn Rogers, Gretchen Rollins, Erika Rothenberg, Katie Shapiro, Guy Richards Smit, Rodrigo Valenzuela, Elizabeth Valdez, Marnie Weber, Sarah Ann Weber, Christopher Williams and Melanie Wilhide.

Hubby on The Maharishi Effect:

I created a photographic collage utilizing the White House lawn as its backdrop. Enlightened and uplifted beings, members of my family, and friends are in a cross-legged meditative position. Crystals and animals make for apro-props. The idea came from the hypothesis of Maharishi Mahesh in 1960 that if one percent of a population practiced meditation the act of meditating would produce measurable improvements in the quality of life for the whole population. A study by Maharishi University of Management found the prediction to be valid.

It is possible there are crimes taking place near or in the White House these days. Keeping Maharishi in mind, I created a hypothetical reality, based on a vision for a more stable world. In the work I brought together high vibration people and things, envisioning the lawn and surrounding area uplifted by the meditators. Picturing a positive outcome can affect an outcome, as found in the placebo effect, visualization, and other methodologies.

Included in the collage are members of the Hubby clan and spiritual leaders including: Nelson Mandela, Dalai Lama, Jane Goodall, Michelle Obama, Barack Obama, Maya Angelou, Bolyn Hubby, Barbara Gillespie, Oprah, David Bowie, Mother Teresa, Evan Rimlinger, Steven Rimlinger, Chuck Rimlinger, Savannah Kingsley Smith, Bettina Hubby, Martin Luther King Jr., Yoko Ono, John Lennon, Michael Beckwith, Ram Dass, Gandhi, Thich Nhat Hanh, Pema Chodron, and Dr. Deepak Chopra, and others.
