GOOD NEWS PAINTINGS

I’ve been gifting myself what I find missing in most current news reporting: joy, discovery, and the very true occurrances of things going right. These paintings are made from headlines I’ve curated—stories from each year that span the heartfelt, the hilarious, the environmental, and the scientific. Humans being nice and doing funny things, incredible discoveries, medical breakthroughs, and big wins for the planet.

The act of seeking good news—of finding it, and painting it with vibrancy—has become its own kind of medicine. It shifts my perspective, lifts my spirit, and offers a serotonin counter-spell to the repetition of fear and despair we’re served daily.

This isn’t about denying the wars, the political strife, or the deep suffering in the world. It’s about balancing the scales—reminding ourselves of what’s also happening, so we can live less in fight-or-flight. When we are nourished and inspired, we are strengthened, and this makes us more able to envision and create new solutions. Like Einstein elucidated, “You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.”

This is my way of reporting what else is happening in the world as a re-minder. Stay tuned for 2025 - its’ a doozy!
