THE SEXUAL BRONZE SHOW
Klowden Mann
January 16–February 27, 2016
Los Angeles
From the Klowden Mann announcement:
THE SEXUAL BRONZE SHOW is Hubby's second solo show with Klowden Mann. The exhibition presents bronze cast sculptures and found objects, bronze pairings on pedestals populated the front gallery, with photographs of those same pairings in various states of hanky-panky in the back. The content is determined by things one would get at the market, and the presentation, minimal, with a nod to excess.
Here is the clever, provocative, and often hilarious, Bettina Hubby: THE SEXUAL BRONZE SHOW. As we all know, good sex, and a general positive adult attitude to our human intimacies comes from one’s ability to explore desires in many shapes, sizes and from a multitude of angles. Hubby’s show, celebrating the diversity of bodies and a body’s possible preferences is presented at Klowden Mann for the first time.
She says of this work: "I take my humor seriously. I focused intently and took a survey, and then engrossed myself into the grocery aisles to find these pairings. I made monuments to my couples' various proclivities. I honor their diversity and their freedom of expression. I bronzed their essence and photographed them in a white bed of light to reveal their true natures; they gleam with a confident appreciative post-coital sigh."
